Let's play! Art making is more fun when we get together. If you'd like to be notified when the Fall 2018 Workshop Schedule is posted, sign up for my newsletter. If you'd like to pull together a group of friends before then, the following workshops are currently available for special arrangement. Feel free to contact me for more information. I'm happy to hear your suggestions and requests!

Ice Dyed Scarves

Create luscious designs on soft bamboo scarves using powdered dye and melting ice cubes! Ice dyeing is a fascinating technique; dye melts into the fabric, resulting in delicate whispers of color. You'll learn different design methods and choose your favorites to make two unique scarves. No previous experience with dye is required.

Dye Party!

Gather up your friends for a special private ice dyeing session.

Ponchos

Transform used clothing into one-of-a-kind fashion wraps. Create a poncho that's elegant, funky, trendy, or just plain cozy - you decide. Once you know the technique, you'll be able to stock your closet with unique accessories in a variety of styles, and easily make artistic gifts for others. Appropriate for all skill levels. The forgiving construction method is simple enough for sewing beginners, and there are plenty of complex visual possibilities to intrigue the accomplished designer.

Fabric Portraits

Convert your own photo image into pattern pieces without special drawing or fancy technology skills. Practice making personal artistic decisions regarding areas of highlight and shadow to lend realism and depth to work. This technique of mapping values, works in a variety of media and can be personalized and abstracted. It's appropriate for portraiture or any other image. As part of the learning process, each workshop participant will create an 11x17 stitched fabric applique. No prior quilting experience or special machine foot required.
